While the root cause of diabetes differs depending on the type, a common factor among all types is an excess of sugar in the blood. The main types of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2, with additional types including gestational diabetes.Characteristics of Type 1 Diabetes• Type 1 diabetes is thought to be caused by genetic factors and external influences like viral infections. Conversely, Type 2 diabetes is believed to arise from a mix of lifestyle and genetic factors.
