 The United States ranks 10th in the world for obesity. The average BMI is 34.1 for men and 27.5 for women, showing a significant difference from Japan. Racial differences also contribute to high BMI in the U.S. The obesity rates are 49.6% for Black people, 42.2% for White people, 44.8% for Hispanic people, and 17.4% for Asian people, with Asians having the lowest rates.Average BMI in Texas According to 2019 data, the obesity rate among adults in Texas is 34.8%, higher than the national average of 30.9%. Texas is among the states with the highest obesity rates in the Average BMI in Japan Hello, my name is Yuka Orihara, a graduate student at Texas A&M University-Commerce. I have been studying abroad in Dallas, Texas, for a year and a half. I am gradually getting used to American culture and language. Especially in the summer, when temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius, I can’t go outside  The average BMI for Japanese men is 23.8 and for women is 22.6, indicating a healthy weight for height. BMI is calculated by dividing a person’s weight in kilograms by the square of their height in meters. This value classifies individuals as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. Additionally, the percentage of people skipping breakfast is 15.4% for men and 10.4% for women, with the highest rates among those in their 20s (37.4% for men and 23.1% for women).without Japanese sunscreen. As a graduate student majoring in statistics and graphic design, I used my knowledge to conduct a comparative analysis of BMI values between Japan and Texas. I hope this article will help raise awareness about health.U.S. This is partly due to a lack of physical activity, especially among lower-income individuals. Approximately 40% of adults with an income below $25,000 reported being physically inactive. As income levels increase, the prevalence of physical inactivity decreases. Why is there such a significant difference in average BMI? To understand this difference, let’s compare the data on physical activity and diet between Japan and Texas.Japan’s Physical Activity Statistics The average total physical activity in Japan is 34.8 METs-hours/week. According to statistics, the highest percentage of people report not engaging in exercise, followed by those who exercise once a week. This is because Japanese people walk a lot for commuting and daily activities, ensuring a certain level of activity without intentional exercise.
