Medical data management is an important element that improves the quality of healthcare services and enables efficient healthcare delivery.• Each province has introduced Electronic Medical Records (EMR), but a unified national system is not yet in place.• A national data management project called “Canada Health Infoway” is underway.• Strict privacy protection often limits data sharing between provinces and medical institutions.
