systems across education, healthcare, and welfare, and the development of strong ethical frameworks. These challenges are not unique to Japan; rather, they are globally significant challenges.Going forward, the development of genomic medicine models tailored to developmental disorders will require international data sharing and multinational collaborative research. Ultimately, genomic medicine is expected to serve as a bridge between science and practical support, helping to create a society where children with developmental disorders can learn, grow, and flourish in environments that nurture their unique strengths.*4 Individualized Education Plan (IEP)A customized plan designed to provide educational supportbased on a child’s developmental stage and individualcharacteristics.*5 Diagnostic AidAn approach that supplements a primary diagnosis usingadditional information (e.g., genetic data) when the maindiagnosis alone is insufficient.Genomic medicine is beginning to serve not only as a means of identifying the causes of developmental disorders but also as a social tool that visualizes otherwise hidden difficulties and connects individuals to personalized support. For example, children once misjudged as lacking effort or being difficult may now be better understood and supported through insights into their neurological characteristics or genetic background.Although Canada and Japan have different systems, there is much they can learn from each other in the application of genomic medicine to developmental disorders. Two key areas Japan could learn from Canada include the establishment of cross-sectoral information-sharing A research method that compares monozygotic anddizygotic twins to distinguish the effects of genetics andA method used to investigate how certain traits (such asdiseases or behavioral tendencies) are distributed within aA test conducted shortly after birth to enable earlydetection of specific congenital disorders.*1 Twin Studiesenvironment.*2 Family History Surveysfamily.*3 Newborn Screening216.
