3 Salut! This is HASUMI who studies abroad in Romania. I would like to discuss the comparison of alcohol consumption and its effect which is related to the previous report.(Annual trend in the percentage of people drinking alcohol at levels increases the risk of lifestyle-related diseases) According to the investigation of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the rate of people who have the possibility of health issues because of drinking is male, 14.1% and female, 9.5%. (Individuals whose daily net alcohol intake is 40g or more for men and 20g or more for women) The concrete amount is 500ml of beer, with (Number of people by generation who developed acute alcohol poisoning)a pure alcohol content of 20g. If you are interested in how much pure alcohol you take, you can examine「 Amount of alcohol (ml) × Alcohol content (g) × 0.8」 Moreover, looking at each age group, men in their 40s and women in their 50s had the highest proportion of people engaging in high-risk drinking (23.6% and 14.6%). There are many opportunities for men to drink alcohol, such as company parties and client entertainment. Men in their 40s, in particular, often drink to relieve stress, as this age group tends to experience high levels of pressure from work, family responsibilities, and career advancement. It seems that women attempt to resolve tension and insomnia caused by menopause through alcohol consumption. Such excessive drinking may cause a decrease in memory and judgment, hangover, and fatal accidents caused by acute alcohol poisoning in the short term. As a long-term effect, physical issues (liver disease, pancreatitis, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer) and mental problems such as sleep disorders and depression might occur. The accident caused by acute alcohol poisoning, which was discussed before, often happens in the 20s, and a certain number of minors who are addicts also exist, despite it being legally prohibited. In their 20s, college or university students often participate in alcoholic parties held by their club, even though they are not sure how much they can drink. That is why they drink too much as a result. Besides this reason, from my point of view, it’s common for people to be pressured into drinking excessively or forced to drink by the so-called “drinking party chants” at such drinking parties. I don’t think such accidents will decrease in the future unless we dispel the unique values among Japanese university students, where those who can drink heavily attract envious stares or stand out.Kyoichi HasumiThe percentage of people in Japan who engage in drinking causes health problemThe analysis of Acute Alcohol Poisoning and Why never disappearedThe University of Bucharest, RomaniaThe rate of alcohol consumption between Japan and Romania and its health issues
